The not-so-little mermaid

When you’re in the middle of a Top 30 challenge, you’re never quite sure what’s going to turn up in the mail…

Fishy out of water?

I am now one flaming red wig away from list item number 29, ‘Participate in a photo shoot on the rocks of a beach dressed as Ariel from ‘The Little Mermaid‘!

I’m tempted to go down the fake tan path, but that wouldn’t really be true to character… so, blindingly white it is!

In case you were wondering, yes I did put it on within 3 seconds of it arriving (and it would have been sooner had the package not been so painstakingly sticky-taped). There was much hopping about and giggling.

I suspect I may have to make a modification or two to the tail before I venture out onto the beach. The end of the tail is constructed of hard plastic that not only makes it very difficult to walk (surprise, surprise), but also makes it very painful to stand. Although it may make it less “tail-like” to do so, my plan is to remove the plastic pieces. I imagine that the plastic pieces are there to make the tail “swimmable”, and Andy thinks I should have a go of that first before I cut the pieces out. “And which pool do you propose I do that in?” I asked, “The 50 metre outdoor pool at Leichhardt Aquatic Centre?”

Truth be told, I’m kinda tempted…

I am a dresser-upperer from way back. For some reason my family like to regularly find opportunities for dress-up parties and I am no different. I was recently very excited to receive an invitation to a dress-up hens party. Apparently it doesn’t matter that we’re all approaching 30 – dressing up as various “pop tarts” is still a very appropriate way to spend a Friday evening. My friends and I have already started discussing options of who we might dress up as. I have a few ideas but I’d like to know…
